Job Summary
- Greet patients and visitors with a professional and friendly demeanor, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Collect patient copays, account balances, and process payments accurately.
- Schedule appointments for patients and manage the clinic calendar for our providers to optimize time management.
- Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process patient registrations, verify insurance information, and update medical records as necessary.
- Handle a high volume of incoming calls, providing clear and concise information while directing calls appropriately.
- Sort through high-volume incoming faxes, prioritizing urgent matters for timely follow-up.
- Coordinate with outside healthcare clinics to schedule referrals, ensuring a seamless transition of care for referred patients.
- Perform routine clerical duties, including data entry, filing, and organizing patient records to ensure office efficiency.
- Utilize medical office software such as eClinicalWorks and pMD for scheduling, patient record management, and communication.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area to foster a positive and professional environment for patients.
Qualifications
- Proficiency with eClinicalWorks and experience with other medical office software, such as pMD, is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar role within a medical office or healthcare setting.
- Ability to manage high volumes of calls, emails, and paperwork while maintaining organization and attention to detail.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally to patients and healthcare providers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle stressful or challenging situations with composure and professionalism.
- Solid understanding of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality requirements.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and respect for others, especially when dealing with sensitive patient information.
- Knowledge of insurance verification and the ability to accurately process insurance information and payments.
- Team-oriented mindset with a cooperative attitude toward supporting colleagues and healthcare providers.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate changes in schedules or clinic needs.
