Ida Lewis Yacht Club in Newport, RI is looking for an Assistant Manager of Waterfront to join our strong team. We are located on 170 Wellington Ave. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, punctual, and reliable.
Responsibilities
· Assist in sourcing and interviewing waterfront staff and provide input to the GM with the hiring and evaluation process.
· All Dock Office staff directly report to the General Manager. This position will assist the GM managing the Waterfront staff.
· Ensure that the waterfront operations are adequately staffed. This includes all Dock Office and Launch scheduling, finding replacement staff, and/or filling in as Dock Office help, or Launch driver on short notice as necessary.
· Train or assist in training all Waterfront staff. This includes Dock Office staff and Launch drivers.
· Collaborate with the General Manager, Maintenance staff, House Committee, Race Committee, and Junior Sailing Committee, in the areas of Dock Office and for all Club Waterfront events (Junior activities, regattas, Club Cruises, etc.).
· Collaborate with the GM to oversee Dock Office operations, including but not limited to visiting club cruises, regattas, race committee, dockage/mooring rentals and reservations, documentation and filing of slip & mooring contracts & payments, Launch CG inspections, Drug Test notifications, Assist members with the Pump-out, technology management, etc.
· Make multiple daily rounds along all docks and slips to check on members boats and any maintenance needed to ensure the safety and integrity of the docks.
· Make sure all Race Committee boats have been cleaned after each race and properly fueled for next use.
· Assist the Race Committee in preparing the boats and gear needed before each race. Report any problems with the boats including damage, mechanical, or gear issues to the GM.
· Oversee Club Store sales performed out of the Dock Office, including inventory management, cash reconciliation, etc.
· Oversee Launch drivers with maintenance of the Launch regarding repairs and daily cleanliness.
- · Any other ILYC tasks, assignments, or responsibilities as directed by the General Manager.
Qualifications
- Current USCG License and TWIC card preferred.
- Experience working in the Marine Industry.
- Management experience.
