What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Admissions position at Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine?
The Assistant Director of Admissions will assist in the oversite of the admissions processes for the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine. This responsibility includes the development and implementation of a communication plan to prospects, applicants, and incoming students. The Assistant Director of Admissions will support recruitment and retention efforts by planning events both on-campus and regionally. The Assistant Director will work closely with regional institutions to develop pathway programs, articulation agreements and will maintain positive relationships with pre-med advisors. This individual will also participate in recruitment events as needed and represent ICOM at various conferences and association meetings. The Assistant Director will fill in for the Director as needed.
- Collaborate with the Director of Admissions to oversee all aspects of the admissions process, including communication with prospects, applicants, and incoming students, reviewing applications, and promoting the retention of accepted students to matriculation
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the Admissions communication plan via EMP and WebAdmit. This includes the creation and maintenance of email campaigns/blasts and personalized student webpages
- Maintain positive relations with external constituents including AACOM and pre-med advisors.
- Plan and implement Accepted Students Day and other campus conversion activities, as well as assist in the planning of interview days, open house events and other admissions related activities, to promote recruitment and retention efforts
- Review and ensure the information on the admissions website and other virtual media including the Choose DO website, is up to date and reflects current processes
- Meet with prospective students and their families when visiting campus and provide campus tours
- Plan and assist with recruitment initiatives, including regional and national recruitment events to market ICOM to prospective students and pre-health advisors
- Represent ICOM in a positive and productive manner
- Maintain organized and confidential student information, following all FERPA regulations
- Report statistical data as needed
- Maintain current knowledge and best practices of the college and osteopathic medicine
- Maintain active representation and membership in appropriate agencies and groups
- Participate in student events such as orientation, White Coat ceremony, Convocation, Graduation. This includes interaction with faculty, administration, community leaders and outside vendors
- Respond to emails/phone calls daily regarding admissions and other various issues
- Assist in the training and cross-training of the Admissions and Recruitment Team

- Bachelor's degree or higher and a minimum of 2 years full-time experience in higher education
- Previous experience in Osteopathic or Allopathic Medical College admissions or student affairs is preferred
- Experience with a centralized application service preferred
- Creativity a plus
