The Department of Administration currently has an opening in the Office of Group Insurance as an Employee Benefits Technician. This customer service-based position plays a key role in meeting the insurance needs for state employees, their families, and state agencies.We serve Idaho by promoting responsible government through expert customer support.Examples of DutiesActs as a primary office contact for all in-coming calls and emails to the main OGI phone line and email accountProvides detailed information and guidance to employees and agency HR staff regarding all aspects of the Group Insurance ProgramExplains policies and procedures for enrollment in the Group Insurance ProgramProcesses employee medical and dental enrollment applicationsWorks directly with the carrier on questions regarding medical and dental coverage effective dates and terminationsProvides office support for monitoring equipment maintenance and ordering suppliesOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications : Some knowledge of : computerized record systems.Typically gained by at least 6 months of experience.Experience : providing technical assistance with the processes regarding the application of personnel policies and procedures;reviewing documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance;compiling data and information for reports;composing letters and memoranda;performing arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages;explaining policies and procedures.Typically gained by at least 6 months of experience.MQ Specialties : establishing and maintaining record systems;complex spreadsheets.Desirable QualificationsExperience in a customer service role where managing high call and email volume was a primary job responsibility.Experience explaining benefits and insurance options to applicants and / or employees.Please note : The successful candidate will be required to pass a fingerprint-based background check.This position will also interact with a diverse customer base and must be able to interact in a non-partisan manner when working in political environments.Thank you for your interest in employment with the Department of Administration!If you have questions about this position please contact us at : Email : [email protected]Phone : 208.332.1819Benefits : The State of Idaho offers a robust total compensation package, including medical, vision, and dental insurance; PERSI retirement benefits; paid sick, vacation, and parental leave; and 11 paid holidays per year.
