Position Purpose:
Idaho Environmental Coalition, LLC (IEC), is seeking an in-house attorney with experience in some or all of the following areas: environmental law, government and commercial contracts and subcontracts, and employment and labor law. IEC is a limited liability company with over 1,500 employees. IEC operates the Idaho Cleanup Project, an environmental remediation project at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Idaho National Laboratory site near Idaho Falls, Idaho. There is need for an in-house attorney with experience in the legal areas noted above. Knowledge of the FAR, DEAR, and DOE prime contracting and subcontracting is a plus. This position will support various groups and functions within IEC and will report to the IEC General Counsel. Compensation and benefits are competitive.
Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education/Experience):
J.D. degree with 0-5 years of experience in some or all of the following areas: environmental law, government and commercial contract law, and labor and employment law. Experience with the RCRA and CERCLA statutes as well as familiarity with DOE cost plus incentive fee contracting are a plus. Experience in managing outside litigation counsel is also a plus. Strong communication and organizational skills, including the ability to work with top and mid-level management, and demonstrated success in promptly and efficiently resolving issues in a complex legal environment are essential. Admission to the Idaho State Bar in either Active or House Counsel status is required. If not currently admitted in Idaho, must be admitted to a state bar at the time of hire and be admitted in Idaho as soon as possible thereafter. Some experience in government property regulations, insurance/risk management, intellectual property, proprietary information, tax law, and export control law is desirable, but is not required. Experience working within the DOE complex is also highly desirable, but is not required.
Special Requirements/Training:
We operate a federal facility and perform work involving national security. Therefore, U.S. citizenship is required. The successful candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a DOE “L” clearance.
Position Responsibilities:
Provide legal guidance to IEC personnel.
Interact with IEC parent company Legal Offices.
Communicate with DOE counterparts to resolve issues.
Act as the General Counsel in their absence.
