POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Idaho Falls Family YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Resident Camp and Teen Programs Director at the Idaho Falls YMCA oversees the development and operations of Big Elk Creek Resident Camp and Teen Programs, designs practices, processes, and procedures for strong program and project management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Human Services, Education or related field desired.
· Minimum of two years’ experience developing, implementing and evaluating programs for youth
· Minimum of two year’s supervisory experience.
· Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising.
· Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
· Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.
· Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
· CPR/First Aid certification and medication/Epi-pen trainings within 30 days of hire date.
· Valid Archery Instructor Certification within 30 days of hire date.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

· Direct and supervise program activities to meet YMCA objectives (see detailed list below).
· Work closely with YMCA Directors as needed and attend Director staff meetings.
· Responsible for the development, implementation, and adherence to the specific established budget, financial and business procedures of the YMCA.
· Take part in YMCA activities and special events as needed; encourage staff and teen participation as well, in order to ensure the event’s success.
· Strong, effective communication skills with all ages.
· Flexible schedule /available to work week day and weekends.
· Attend YMCA trainings as assigned by supervisor.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Youth Development: Teen Programming
· Facilitate after school and/or weekend programming.
· Create additional programming within the community based on your experience and knowledge.
· Continuous knowledge and awareness of latest trends relative to population served.
· Develop, implement, and oversee program activities and events which meet the needs of the community.
· Recruit, coordinate, and assist in training of staff/volunteers.
· Actively network with middle school youth/high school youth to recruit representative population of participants at YMCA programs, facility, and events.
· Act as substitute teacher as needed.
· Plan and implement weeklong vacation camp program from middle schoolers.
Youth Development: Big Elk Creek Camp
· Act as Camp Director and remain onsite at YMCA Big Elk Creek during the summer.
· Communicate with Forest Service department any concerns/needs of the camp prior to camp opening.
· Employ and train all necessary staff, develop and maintain budget, license preparation and management, public relations, and day-to-day planning/scheduling.
· Conduct staff orientation for the Big Elk Creek staff.
· Supervise counselors and volunteers on a daily basis to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants.
· Plan daily activity schedule and special events.
· Keep detailed records on attendance and incidents/accidents.
· Communicate any special circumstances, problems, accidents or activities to the CEO.
· Plan and conduct weekly staff meetings.
· Prepare and supervise daily camp activities with the staff and volunteers.
· Responsible for daily clean up and maintenance of all program areas.
· Plan and implement Specialty Camps.
· Substitute throughout camp when needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to: climb, kneel, reach, push, swim, balance, crouch, stand, pull, gasp, repetitive motions, navigate stairs, stoop, crawl, walk, lift, talk, hear, and sit. The employee may occasionally need to exercise these physical labor demands: exerting up to 60 pounds of force occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close/far vision, ability to adjust focus, peripheral vision, depth perception, and field of vision. Acute hearing is essential to this position. In this position, this person will be frequently required to work in outside-weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, this individual may occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat/cold, wet and/or humid environments, and moderate noise.
