Forester Intern
We are seeking a Forester Intern to gain practical, on-the-job experience in forestry by working under the guidance of an experienced professional.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in Quality Control aspects of logging operations and Service projects on operational Timber Sales and Stewardship Agreements.
- Quality control on logging jobs with a written set of items to complete and document on each sale visit.
- Quality inspection on Stewardship service items with written items to inspect and document.
- Introduction to timber sale logging systems analysis and forest road construction.
- Introduction to sawmilling processes.
- Introduction timber sale appraisal process.
- Introduction to global harvest planning process.
- Introduction to open market log buying.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or have recently graduated with an undergraduate or graduate degree in Forestry or related field.
- Must be a rising sophomore or higher, minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Ability to identify tree species.
Physical Requirements:
- Move safely, quickly, and perform duties with repetitious movement.
- Sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs.
