Position Summary
The Accountant is responsible for all general accounting functions including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Banking, and General Ledger. Assist in financial management processes of the Exchange including month-end close responsibilities. Also involved in preparation of periodic financial statements, assist in preparation for and support of the annual external audits, and responsible for ad hoc managerial analysis and reporting as required.

Responsibilities (Position may include additional functions not listed)
- Prepares daily banking entries and accounts receivable from carriers and advertisers
- Performs analysis on revenue trends, member and premium analysis
- Prepare documentation and implementation of the financial management processes of the Exchange
- Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options for building and month-end close process procedures
- Captures timesheet data, prepares payroll runs, and reports on each payroll run to payroll management
- Maintains team member health benefits and makes changes in the payroll system
- Documents financial transactions by entering account information
- Summarizes current financial status by collecting information by preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports for month-end close
- Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents to ensure internal control policies and procedures are correctly followed
- Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
- Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
- Maintains financial security by comprehensively following internal controls
- Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile transactions
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Prepare financial statements for month-end and input to budget production process according to schedule
- Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations
- Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
- Prepares ad hoc financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Required knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required; CPA a plus.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of bookkeeping, accounting/finance experience.
- Excellent Excel skills and experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software and Paylocity or similar payroll software.
- Experience with treasury and cash management
- Ability to assume responsibility and maintain confidentiality consistent with the values and integrity of YHI.
- Demonstrate ability to work within a quickly evolving organization, manage multiple, complex priorities and respond effectively to change.
- Ability to work in office setting; use of normal office machines. Ability to listen to and understand others, as well as ability to give and receive instructions via telephone, computer messages in person, and in writing.
- Occasional lifting or movement of materials up to 10 pounds.
- Availability to work additional hours or weekends as projects demand.
