POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Support Specialist supports the Production Manager by assisting in the daily operations of the production process. This role involves ensuring system efficiencies, managing material inventory and flow, and maintaining compliance with established product specifications, SOPs, and plant policies. The Production Support Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of the production line and supporting the team in achieving production goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in directing sanitation activities to ensure equipment cleanliness and adherence to period cleaning criteria.
- Support improvement projects for the facility.
- Aid in updating SOPs for all plant positions.
- Monitor and enforce safety SOPs.
- Assist in making approved corrections to system SOPs, SSOPs, and the Sanitation Program.
- Ensure compliance with in-house and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize statistical process control tools to monitor and adjust operating parameters on equipment.
- Complete assigned corrective actions in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
- Measure and track production goals by process.
- Track and file production paperwork.
- Provide timely inventories and feedback to the logistics function.
- Enforce OSHA and safety regulations.
- Utilize shift pass-down meetings and plant meetings to communicate progress against measures, share objectives, and solicit ideas and suggestions from employees.
- Provide support in leadership and direction.
- Create an environment that encourages employee involvement and fosters innovative ideas on process improvement.
- Provide adequate time, training materials, and other resources to assist employees in learning their roles and responsibilities.
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Required: High School diploma/GED or equivalent work-related experience.
- Preferred: Associate's degree in Dairy Science, Engineering, Business Management, or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the dairy food industry in a production setting.
- Previous automation platform experience is a plus.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, especially Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements:
- Regular ascending and/or descending of ladders and stairs using feet and legs and/or hands and arms on a regular basis. Body agility is emphasized.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances on a regular basis
- Repetitive motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time on concrete
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist on a regular basis
- Reaching: Extending hands and arms in any direction
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
- Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees occasionally.
- Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Lifting: Able to lift up to 55lbs on a regular basis and 60lbs occasionally.
