POSITION SUMMARY:

This position directly oversees a talented team of sanitation crew members as they work diligently to uphold sanitation requirements for our machinery, equipment, and facilities. You will be responsible for planning, assigning, and guiding their efforts while coordinating environmental sampling programs and optimizing our Cleaning-in-place (CIP) operations in partnership with production. As a Sanitation Supervisor, you will carry out your responsibilities with a commitment to our company's policies and comply with relevant Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as well as applicable laws.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enthusiastically implement and sustain comprehensive plant sanitation programs, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Conduct thorough audits of sanitation and CIP processes to confirm adherence to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Monitor chemical usage efficiently, ordering and tracking supplies to optimize our operations.
  • Spearhead and manage vital programs related to Sanitation/GMPs and Chemical Control.
  • Develop and oversee our Master Sanitation programs, ensuring excellence in cleanliness standards.
  • Collaborate with production and other management teams to expertly plan and schedule the work of your staff to meet sanitation deadlines while maximizing productivity.
  • Analyze and proactively resolve work-related challenges, offering support to staff as needed.
  • Partners with production personnel to troubleshoot and address sanitation-related issues effectively.
  • Recommend innovative measures to continually enhance sanitation techniques, equipment performance, and the overall quality of our products.
  • Review daily bacteria counts, swiftly addressing any concerns related to CIP processes and providing thorough training for operators on sampling and protocols.
  • Validate SSOPs and plant CIP systems annually or whenever modifications occur.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with external vendors, including our chemical suppliers, to maintain efficient operations.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow supervisors to synchronize departmental activities, enhancing cooperation and problem-solving focused on sanitation excellence.
  • Provide inspired supervision to your team in scheduling and daily activities while ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, and performance management.
  • Deliver insightful training and instruction to employees concerning sanitation standards, GMPs, SSOPs, and overall objectives. Lead by example in upholding our policies and procedures.
  • Engage fully in managerial responsibilities that entail planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and delegating tasks effectively.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned, demonstrating your versatility and dedication.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, particularly in Dairy Science or a related field.
  •  A High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work-related experience is also acceptable.

Experience:

  • Required: 2-4 years in the dairy food industry, showcasing your expertise.
  • Required: 1-2 years managing personnel in a diverse and dynamic environment, highlighting your leadership skills.  

Skills and Abilities         

  • Demonstrated proficiency in various computer software applications, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to foster a collaborative atmosphere.

Equipment Operated:

•    CIP Systems, Miscellaneous Manufacturing Equipment, Personal Computer, Copy Machine, Calculator, and Phone.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: 

  • Subject to extreme heat:  Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than two hours. 
  • There is sufficient noise to cause workers to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Subject up to at least 92db’s.
  • Excessive ascending and/or descending of ladders and stairs using feet and legs and/or hands and arms on a regular basis. Body agility is emphasized. 
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances on a continuous basis. 
  • Repetitive motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time on concrete floors.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist on a regular basis.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Lifting: Able to lift up to 50lbs occasionally, up to 20lbs regularly.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.  Includes activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
