POSITION SUMMARY: 

As a key strategic partner, the Senior Human Resources Manager harmoniously aligns business goals with both employees and management across all functional areas at Idaho Milk Products. This role involves collaborating with Executive management to create cohesive HR policies, spearheading initiatives to attract and recruit exceptional talent, and overseeing benefits administration. Additionally, the Senior Human Resources Manager supports managers and supervisors in the effective and legal implementation of policies while liaising with relevant governmental agencies. Maintaining accurate legal documentation and employee records is crucial, alongside transparent communication regarding HR matters throughout the organization. Above all, this position embodies leadership by actively exemplifying our core organizational values.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a key position within our company that:

  • Works with Executive management to develop and administer various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel. 
  • Plans, organizes, and controls all department activities. 
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems. 
  • Assists supervisors and managers with the Performance Appraisal system and the annual compensation program.  
  • Rewrites job descriptions as necessary, conducts salary surveys and analyzes compensation. 
  • Helps develop, recommend, and implement personnel policies and procedures. Works with all employees to ensure adherence to the Employee Handbook.  
  • Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness, and annual enrollment.  
  • Works with legal experts to ensure Company compliance with all governmental regulations and employment laws.  Maintains appropriate records to ensure compliance. 
  • Conducts recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students, and temporary employees.  Conducts new-employee orientations and works with management to promote internal hires.  Conducts employee relations counseling and works with managers and supervisors to hire and terminate employees.  
  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars. Maintains company organization charts and employee directory. 
  • Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the department and services performed.  Establishes and maintains Key Performance Indicators for HR department effectiveness. 
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations. 
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Provides day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity, and retention. 
  • Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Provides guidance and input on workforce planning and succession planning. 
  • Identifies training needs for the organization and individual executive coaching needs. 
  • Participates in the evaluation and monitoring of the success of training programs. Follows-up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Manages two salaried Sr. HR Generalists. 
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned. 
     

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ of Human Resources experience.
  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.
     

Knowledge Skills and Experience:

  • Experience managing multiple sites preferred.
  • Experience with starting up a new plant preferred.
  • Professional written communication and detailed oriented.
  • In depth knowledge of ADP preferred.
  • Strong conflict management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results.
  • Effectively envision, develop, and implement new strategies to address competitive, complex business issues.
  • Be self-directed and motivated.
  • Take initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws. 
     

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for extended periods of time at a computer. Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity (e.g., processing paperwork, filing, stapling, sorting, collating, etc.)
  • Repetitive motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.  Includes activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Machines Operated:

  • Office machines (e.g., personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, and phone).
