What are the responsibilities and job description for the Designer - Mechanical/Electrical position at Idaho National Laboratory?

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Mechanical Designer to work in our Design and Drafting department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) facility with every Friday off.

You will apply multi-disciplined CAD drafting skills and techniques to prepare new computer-generated drawings and drawing changes to support multi-disciplined company engineering activities. You will report to the manager of the Design and Drafting department.

Responsibilities Include :

Participate and lead the design team to develop complete design and / or CAD models compatible with applicable codes and standards and pre-established cost, scope, and schedule dimensions for purposes of fabrication, installation, construction or modification of nuclear facilities, structures, systems and / or components (SSCs).
Provide drafting checking support for assigned group’s experiment drawings, including precision mechanical, electrical, piping and instruments drawings (P&IDs), etc.
Participate and lead in the selection of nuclear components, specifications, and acceptance criteria to be communicated via associated engineering documentation to support the end use.
Check drawings ensuring Fit, Form, and Function for Drawings of all complexity.
Provide design guidance to Engineering and supporting organizations.
Direct the work efforts of drafting personnel to achieve cost-effective engineering project cost management.
Train / mentor peers in the application of multi-disciplined design development skills and techniques.
Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

Level 2 : Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience, an advanced degree in a relevant field, or 8 years of other education and / or relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

Level 3 : Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience. an advanced degree and 2 years of experience, or 11 years of other education and / or relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Job Information :

The pay range for this position is : Level 2 ($65,064 - $133,416) / Level 3 ($77,628 - $159,228). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

TDP : This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.

Multi-Level : This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
