Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Director, IT Infrastructure and Operations to work in our Information Technology department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule onsite located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.
You will be responsible for planning, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure and operational services, driving IT infrastructure modernization, operational effectiveness, and supporting security compliance for the laboratory. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and security of our IT infrastructure and related systems, which support the laboratory's mission-critical scientific research and development activities. The Director will oversee a team of IT professionals, manage large-scale IT infrastructure projects, and collaborate with various departments to align IT services with the laboratory’s goals. You will manage complex programs of critical impact, developing and executing strategic plans, ensuring alignment with the IT strategy and INL mission, and overseeing the delivery of a comprehensive range of IT services, from desktop support to advanced cloud computing solutions. Additionally, you will be a key member of the IT Leadership Team. You will report to the Executive Director and CIO of Information Technology.
Responsibilities Include :
- Develop and implement the strategic vision for IT infrastructure and operations, ensuring alignment with IT strategy and INL’s mission and objectives.
- Lead the formulation and execution of IT infrastructure strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance of the laboratory's IT infrastructure, including device management, identity access management, networks, wired and wireless communications, video teleconferencing, data centers, servers, storage, and cloud services.
- Lead a multi-department organization, including, matrixed, and multi-disciplined teams, to support the organization's strategic direction and operational infrastructure.
- Accountability for disaster recovery planning and business continuity efforts for IT Infrastructure and Operations services.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Establish and oversee operational policies, procedures, and work plans, ensuring the effective operation of activities of major significance to our organization.
- Manage and be accountable for division and IT budget authority, ensuring that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are set and attained ensuring cost-effective and efficient use of resources.
- Engage regularly with senior management and stakeholders to align IT services with laboratory direction and customer needs.
- Develop compelling business cases, communicate key messages, and promote organizational values of integrity, excellence, ownership, and teamwork.
- Manage risk employing a comprehensive approach, identifying and implementing appropriate work structures to achieve outcomes.
- Oversee the planning and execution of large-scale IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Manage vendor relationships and contracts to optimize resource utilization and service quality.
- Direct the implementation of IT initiatives, ensuring service delivery optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvement.
- Assess and leverage the skills of department managers and leads, creating development and succession plans, provide mentorship, promote growth, and high performance.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory policies, standards, and procedures, including ESH&Q, safeguards, security, and cyber security programs.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, assessing their potential impact on INL's IT infrastructure.
- Foster a culture of transparency, respect, accountability, collaboration, and excellence within the IT Infrastructure and Operations team.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
Desired Experience :
Experience with robust quality assurance programs, COBIT, ITIL such as incident, problem, change, configuration, release, asset, service request, and knowledge management, and CMMI frameworks.
Experience working in a research or laboratory environment or government environment.
Job Information :
The target pay range for this position is $165,793 - $236,238 annually. The full pay range is $121,920 - $316,992 . At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
TDP : This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
