Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Maintenance Department Manager to work at our Materials and Fuels Complex. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our MFC facility with every Friday off.

The MFC Maintenance Department Manager provides strategic leadership and direction for maintenance activities conducted in nuclear, radiological and non-nuclear facilities at MFC. Responsible to lead a department of 150 employees consisting of general foreman, foreman, staff, and all craft disciplines. Responsible to drive proactive improvements within the maintenance department to support the MFC mission more efficiently, effectively, and with high quality results.

Responsibilities Include :

  • Ensure maintenance activities are performed safely and efficiently to achieve research outcomes and milestone commitments.
  • Lead efforts to ensure general foreman and foreman are implementing the five functions of the management model; organizing, planning, staffing, leading, assessing / improving.
  • Foster continuous improvement and ensure human performance improvement (HPI) tools and processes are embedded throughout all maintenance work activities.
  • Responsible to provide leadership and direction in the implementation of the Predictive Maintenance program as developed by the Reliability Engineering Program Lead.
  • Provide leadership and direction in developing a human capital management plan and manage assigned staff and resources to maximize performance in the execution of maintenance and deliver quality products and services in support of achieving the department goals and objectives.
  • Responsible to build multi-disciplinary teams with shared goals, accountability and ownership for the INL / MFC mission and foster a culture consistent with the INL mission.
  • Strategically influence INL maintenance program through participation in the Senior Maintenance Managers Committee.
  • Responsible to develop working relationships with union representatives, understand collective bargaining unit agreements, and participate in union contract negotiations when scheduled.
  • Responsible to lead efforts in systematically updated work control documents as part of the Asset Suite upgrade.
  • Responsible to review division maintenance activities as planned in the Integrated Resource Planning Tool (IRPT) ensure scope has been identified appropriately and resources are available to support work.
  • Responsible for maintenance budget.
  • You will report to the Division Director.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • BS and 10 years relevant experience with a required 6 years nuclear experience (Job related training / experience or education can count for up to 2 years of nuclear experience).
  • Must have demonstrated expertise in managing and overseeing a maintenance organization or equivalent.
  • Must have significant personnel management and administrative experience with non-represented and represented employees.
  • Must have a technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, applicable codes and standards, predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nuclear engineering fundamentals, metallurgy, chemistry, mathematics, and applying nuclear system design and operations to maintenance techniques.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
  • Preferred Experience :

  • Preferred experience in a nuclear power, test, research, or production reactors or a critical facility.
  • Job Information :

  • The target pay range for this position is $138,143.00- $209,345.00 annually. The full pay range is $105,516.00 - $269,052.00. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP : This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
