What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nuclear Reactor Design Summer 2025 Internship position at Idaho National Laboratory?

In this paid internship you will help develop a tool for economic-based nuclear reactor design optimization. This tool will use modeling and simulation tools such as OpenMC and MOOSE. You will contribute to software development and writing scientific publications. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of nuclear reactor core design and neutron transport calculations. Reporting to the digital reactor technology and development group. This team works a 9x80 schedule, and works onsite at our Idaho Falls campus. Start date and duration of internship vary based on project and student availability. You may be eligible for course credit for this internship if approved by your university.
Minimum Requirements :
- Masters Degree Program / Doctorate Degree Program enrolled full time at an accredited college / university studying Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Physics or related field
- A minimum overall (3.0) GPA
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT)
