Position Overview: Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a post master’s student for a one-year program designed to bridge the gap between education and career readiness. The selected candidate will work as a Research Associate in Focused Ion Beam (FIB) Microscopy, contributing to advanced materials development in support of INL's mission. MaCS provides unique microscopy services to INL, universities, and industry partners.
Responsibilities
The pay range for this position is $82,152 - $88,987. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

Responsibilities
- Operate FIB/SEM instruments to support research and materials development programs.
- Maintain and ensure operational proficiency of microscopy instruments and detectors.
- Analyze and evaluate data from various material experiments.
- Author and contribute to peer-reviewed publications and technical reports.
- Organize and ensure efficient use of instruments.
- Collaborate with scientists and modeling experts to enhance microscopy applications.
- Assess the performance of nuclear fuels and cladding through post-irradiation examinations.
- Establish relationships with universities and develop partnerships.
- Provide guidance to junior scientists, technicians, or post-doctoral staff.
- Master’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Research experience in a relevant field.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Sample Preparation.
- Experience in a nuclear field.
- Experience in supply chain and operations management.
