What are the responsibilities and job description for the RadCon Operations Specialist position at Idaho National Laboratory?
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a RadCon Operations Specialist to work in our Environment, Safety, Health and Quality (ESH&Q) department. Our team, works onsite with a 4x10 schedule located out of our Central Facilities Area (CFA) with every Friday off. You will report to the Balance of Facilities RadCon Manager.
You will complete a variety of assignments supporting operational activities. Demonstrate a commitment to, and hold others accountable to, the leadership maxims and Human Performance Improvement (HPI) Practices & Principles. Competent in Conduct of Operations, Conduct of Maintenance, Integrated Safety Management Systems (ISMS), Occurrence Reporting and Processing System (ORPS), self-assessment, Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), route cause analysis, regulatory compliance, Corrective Action Review Board (CARB), and oversight.
Responsibilities Include :
- Plan, schedule, and lead assessments. This includes providing guidance and direction to various personnel tasked to support the assessments.
- Identify risks that might jeopardize management system outcomes and develop assurance plans and schedules to ensure effective mitigation of those risks.
- Provide analysis to key leaders to improve performance.
- Interface directly with and providing work direction for safe and compliant completion of scheduled work activities related to operations, including following procedural requirements, instructions, and work control.
- Ensure assigned personnel have the required training to perform their assigned work and are fit for duty, which includes resolving problems related to personnel, training, and schedule compliance.
- Ensure non-operations personnel in the facilities, and / or involved in operational activities, conduct their activities in a formal and disciplined manner consistent with Conduct of Operations (ConOps) and management procedures.
- Implement and support the continuous improvement of ConOps, ISMS, HPI, and VPP programs and procedures.
- Maintain facility configuration within the safety basis. Identify hazards and their mitigation.
- Provide input to and reviews of facility operating documents. Maintain knowledge of facility systems, operating requirements, and administrative and safety limits.
- Promote the strategic alignment of the organization.
- Develop and revise metrics for use in a dashboard.
- Balance of Facilities RadCon Records Coordinator, Scanning and filing hard-copy documents into EDMS.
- Mentor more junior staff members.
- Escort and oversee subcontractors.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

Salary : $65,064 - $133,416
