We need smart people like you to join us in solving hard problems that matter.Position Description:The DevOps Engineer is a full-time position that will be tasked with optimizing and streamlining software development, building, and deployment for our program teams. This position will work with a range of software engineers to understand their needs, develop systems and processes to help accelerate their development and optimize their efficiency. In addition to the DevOps role, this position will help the office with general system administration needs.
What You’ll Get to Do:
- Work closely with developers to ensure smooth integration of development environments and production systems
- Automate and streamline deployment processes to enhance the efficiency and speed of software releases
- Monitor the health and performance of applications and infrastructure to prevent downtime
- Manage the complexities of supporting on-premise / non-internet connected systems
- Provide help and troubleshooting to system users
- Maintain clear documentation of system(s)
- Maintain network reliability and fault tolerance
- Understand user’s needs and recommend tools or processes to management
- Scale solutions to the organizations needs and understand when to use opensource vs enterprise
- Maintain an understanding of the infrastructure that requires minimal outside support
- Conduct security auditing and analysis of network and hosts
- Maintain awareness of emerging threats and recommend mitigating procedures
Required Qualifications & Experience
- US Citizenship
- Ability to get a security clearance
- More than 3 years of proven system administration past performance, including Linux and Windows administration, firewall and switch configuration and scripting and software development
- Mastery
- Red Hat Linux System Administration
- Linux Command line
- Linux Scripting
- Clear and concise documentation
- Networking at all layers
- Redhat KVM or similar virtualization management
- Understanding of access control across operating systems, file systems, and services
- Working Knowledge
- DevSecOps (the addition of security to the above duties)
- Linux Filesystems
- NFS Servers
- Free IPA or Rehat IdM
- Windows / Linux integration
- Router and firewall configuration
- Windows Administration
- Basic network hardening
- Understand of system auditing/log analysis processes and tool
- Understanding of common network protocols and traffic analysis (Wireshark, t-shark, TCPdump, etc)

Location
The work location is at Idaho Scientific headquarters in Boise, Idaho. Remote administration is not an option for these systems.
