The primary purpose of this position is : To have overall responsibility for the full range of psychological services over an installation's operational Air Force (AF) squadrons. Serves as the multidisciplinary Integrated Operational Support (IOS) mental health clinical psychologist, consultant, and resource to other medical and embedded mental health staff. Responsibilities Screens and interviews patients, and performs bio-psychological social evaluations Develops and implements initiatives to mitigate psychosocial stressors and risks and optimize Airman performance Exercises full professional responsibility in psychological consultation, education, and training to military commanders / senior leaders, other mental health professionals, and medical staff Provides evidence-based, clinical psychology services Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Conditions of Employment (cont'd) : May be required to work extended hours or rotating shifts to include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Qualifications : In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, Psychology Series GS-0180 IOR. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT : Degree : satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below : SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes applying a professional knowledge of clinical psychology and psychological measurement as well as fundamental theories, and concepts in human performance to manage programs, policies, management objectives for accomplishing psychological assessment work; Providing knowledge and skill in the application of various psychological interventions to manage emotional, behavioral, and social aspects of readiness and functioning of military personnel in high-risk, high-demand career fields; Performing computer utilization and statistical techniques for data analysis and proficiency in utilizing behavioral science software packages for data manipulation and analysis; Administering interviewing techniques, including the development, structure, conduct, evaluation, and assessment; Conducting, administering, and interpreting the full spectrum of psychological assessment tools applicable to BMT; Planning, organizing, and leading study work / projects and to negotiate effectively with leadership to accept and implement recommendations, analyzing complex processes involving several functional areas with overlapping concerns and conflicting interests; Communicating orally and in writing to prepare detailed written reports, including briefing charts, diagrams, and other graphics to support recommendations or conclusions. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS : Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE : Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs) : Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and / or competencies in the following areas : Substantive professional knowledge of clinical psychology, human performance enhancement within neurocognitive and psychosocial domains, and improving personal resiliency. Expert knowledge of evidence-based treatments and standards of clinical practice for a full range of psychological disorders to plan and provide treatment to patients. Knowledge of military organizations and culture and the unique stressors upon workers in an operational military workplace. Knowledge of administration, scoring, and interpretation of select psychological and psycho-social measures to properly assess patient's and family's needs. Skill to prepare accurate written documentation in patient care and provide guidance and consultant services to medical professionals, managers, and clients. Ability to gather, synthesize, and apply data, including psychological testing, interviews, medical / non-medical records to the identification and mitigation of population risks. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE : Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
