Fuels PIE Department Manager at Battelle Energy Alliance dba Idaho National Labora in Idaho Falls, Idaho, United States Job Description Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Fuels PIE Department Manager to work in our Fuels PIE department. Our team works a 410 schedule located out of our MFC facility with every Friday off. The Fuels Post-Irradiation Examination (PIE) Department Manager provides managerial and technical expertise to support scientific staff that executes mission in the space of fuels PIE and performance analysis. Responsibilities Include : Manage the activities of a department or a discipline through subordinate supervisors, exempt and non-exempt staff to ensure tasks completed are both aligned with organizational goals and empowering to the employees. Responsible for single function, location, and technical discipline.Track progress and adjust plans to maximize talent deployment and development Provide guidance to your team within the latitude of established company policies. Recommend changes to policies and establish procedures that affect department or multiple disciplines through monitoring and evaluations that lead to improvement implementation Responsible for the effective operation of activities of major significance to our organization. Decisions impact others in the immediate team and influences methods and techniques. Build financials, business planning, organizational priorities, and workforce. Ensure that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained. Coordinate complex research priorities with other research supervisors within the facility to ensure expected timelines are met Work with subordinate supervisors, customers, and functional peer group professionals, involving matters between sections and multiple units to build effective and collaborative teams. Receive objective-based assignments and determine resources to meet schedules and goals. Ensure that those resources are integrated in the resource-loaded facility mission schedule. Help develop overall goals and long-term goals of the department and help set the division goals. Partner with important contacts outside own area of expertise and other external partners. Present results and recommendations across departments. You will typically report toa direct report of a Director, Sr. Director, or Senior Leadership.
