Summary The primary duty of a welder is to join metal parts together in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. After reading and interpreting diagrams, s / he prepares and sets up equipment by laying out, positioning, and aligning components so that they fit together. The welder welds parts using various types of arcs such as gas, metal, and aluminum, etc. S / he may assemble parts by bolting and riveting and may repair products. The welder is responsible for inspecting workpieces for defects and ensuring specifications are met.
