Job Description
HPSS offers undergraduate majors in Sport Management (Sport Operations and Coaching emphases areas), Exercise Science, Outdoor Education and delivers core content curricula for Physical Education - Teaching majors. Additionally, HPSS offers a Masters-level program in Athletic Administration and houses the university’s physical education activity class (PEAC/Bengal Fit) program.
We are seeking to hire someone with a diverse background and expertise in sport management, kinesiology and physical education, and coaching. Specific responsibilities will primarily include teaching undergraduate courses related to these disciplines, with the potential to teach graduate courses in Athletic Administration. Successful candidates will also have experience to include –
- Advising and mentoring students at the undergraduate (and potentially graduate) level.
- Performing service to the department of HPSS, the College of Education, the University and the profession.
- Establishing and maintaining a record of significant scholarly activity, to include professional publication and presentation (tenure track rank only).
- An ongoing commitment to student recruitment/retention and to program improvement.
Key Responsibilities
This position will be based on ISU’s main campus in Pocatello, ID with the successful candidate teaching face-to-face courses.
Candidates with a Master’s-level degree will be considered for a non-tenure track position at the rank of Clinical Instructor. Workload will consist of 12 units of teaching (80%) and 3 units of service (20%) per semester over 9-months.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in sport management, kinesiology, sport psychology, physical education or related field.
- At least three years of successful teaching experience.
- Ability to teach a variety of subjects within field of sport management, coaching, kinesiology, sport psychology and physical education.
- Commitment to mentoring and advising students at the undergraduate level.
- Strong commitment to teaching and service initiatives set forth by the department, college, and university.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated record of leadership in sport management, coaching and/or physical education.
- At least three years of successful teaching experience at the college level.
- Elementary/Secondary teaching certification
Additional Information

Salary will be between $55,000 - $60,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
