We invite you to apply to be a part of our University community!Job DescriptionThe Investigator is responsible for efficiently and impartially investigating complaints of violations of Idaho State University (ISU) policies, including, but not limited to, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other workplace-related issues. Reporting to the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX, the investigator will also work with the Office of Human Resources on investigations involving students and employees.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct prompt, thorough, reliable, and impartial investigations of complaints of misconduct, including those based on violation of ISU policies, State of Idaho regulations, and/or federal laws. Investigate all forms of discrimination and harassment, including those based on sex, race, disability, other protected classes, and other workplace conduct. Identify and interview Complainants, Respondents, and Witnesses to collect evidence and information relevant to the investigations, apply appropriate university policies, and make findings of fact in individual cases. Prepare well-documented, detailed, and high-quality reports of factual findings for submission to the designated decision maker. Provided a comprehensive analysis of all of the evidence gathered and testimonial evidence, utilizing a preponderance of the evidence standard. Provide periodic, timely updates regarding the status of investigations to the Senior Investigator or other relevant university officials.Participate in hearing processes as policy requires, including providing a summary of the investigation and clarifications regarding the investigation. Attend Title IX and other appropriate training sessions and meetings, including completing certification on Title IX topics and other topics as identified by the Sr. Investigator in collaboration with Human Resources.Understand intersecting federal and state civil rights law and higher education legal obligations, including FERPA, the Clery Act, and VAWA.Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, a minimum eight years combined education, training, and experience may be considered)
- At least three (3) years of related experience conducting investigations into employee concerns, student conduct complaints, or civil rights complaints (Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, ADA, Employee Grievance)
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret employment policies and regulations, federal and state equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws, including Title IX
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in emotionally charged situations
- Strong organizational, planning, analytical, and problem-solving ability
- Ability to write comprehensive reports of investigations with findings of fact and recommendations
- Strong conflict resolution skills or experience
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written forms
- Master's degree
- Experience and training in trauma-informed investigation techniques
- Experience in sex/gender-based discrimination investigation.
- Experience in investigating workplace concerns
- Certified Title IX Investigator
- Knowledge of Maxient
- FMLA, VAWA, and FERPA experience
Salary : $52,000 - $65,000
