Position Summary

This position represents iDC Logistics in all aspects of new business development by identifying prospective clients, acquisitions, and strategic business opportunities. The Senior Vice President of Business Development will initiate new business outreach, present iDC Logistics’ capabilities, develop compelling partnership proposals, presentations, and financial models, create RFP responses, and lead contract negotiations. This role is responsible for collaborating with departments across the organization to identify, develop, plan, and implement new revenue-generating opportunities and partnerships across our portfolio.


Job Responsibilities

  • Initiates and follows up on new business opportunities and leads.
  • Acquires a detailed understanding of emerging business opportunities that align with our strategic plan.
  • Identifies prospects for privatization opportunities within the industry and develops additional revenue-generating concepts with existing clients.
  • Builds, retains, and leverages relationships with local influencers to aid in contract pursuits and enhance local market knowledge.
  • Collaborates with key business leaders to identify, devise, and implement strategies that maximize iDC Logistics’ resources, generating ongoing incremental revenue streams from new business opportunities outside of—but related to—our core business activities.
  • Facilitates inter-departmental support to ensure that proposals, projects, presentations, and sales/marketing communications for new business ideas are developed, reviewed, and presented to the CEO for further action, as needed (due diligence).
  • Assists in the development of business plans, pro forma projections, and other relevant business documents (e.g., project feasibility studies).
  • Mobilizes relevant business resources across the organization (e.g., Finance, Commercial Partnerships, Premium Sales, Marketing) for new and ongoing projects.
  • Oversees the coordination and implementation of approved new business initiatives, including project management, hiring/staffing, and related responsibilities—such as reviewing and developing contracts in collaboration with General Counsel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Leadership

  • Champions and fosters employee involvement, collaboration, and teamwork, demonstrating hands-on leadership by regularly engaging with employees and upholding company culture and values.
  • Establishes and frequently reviews developmental action plans that promote individual growth and strengthen succession planning initiatives.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and recommends promotions, wage increases, and other performance-related actions (including verbal/written counseling, discipline, and termination).
  • Exhibits a collaborative, decisive, and engaging leadership style, building trust-based, positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Seeks out and listens to others’ ideas and suggestions, providing clear and concise feedback to direct reports, peers, and senior leaders.
  • Drives change and implements new ideas to support business operations.


Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree (M.A., M.S., or M.B.A.) preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of business experience, preferably with a background in strategic business development.
  • At least 7–10 years of experience in Freight Forwarding and International Logistics.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing sales and operations teams.
  • Experience in all facets of Import and Export operations (Air, Ocean, and Customs Brokerage).
  • Proven ability to bring sales relationships and opportunities to the company.
  • Prior P&L management experience.
  • Established, solid relationships within the industry.
  • Prior sales experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop, manage, lead, and communicate effectively with staff.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Must have experience with CargoWise.


Skills and Competencies

  • Understanding of international and domestic entities and programs, including but not limited to TSA, C-TPAT, FMCSA, FMC, and IATA.
  • Superior verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated passion for customer service.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to relate effectively to all levels of employees and build successful relationships.
  • Strong leadership communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in PC skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and email management systems.


Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20–30%.
