Special Programs
Role Mission : The National Dyslexia Coach will oversee Special Programs Dyslexia Programming for IDEA Public Schools to ensure maximum student achievement for our students identified as dyslexic. The National Dyslexia Coach will directly manage compliance and instruction for dyslexia programing. She will train, develop and manage regional special programs personnel across Texas to remain in compliance with all Texas Dyslexia state requirements. She will build collaborative business partnerships between national support personnel and all regional special programs directors, leads and coaches to ensure IDEA’s special programs dyslexia model is being implemented. Additionally, she will create, develop and create systems of accountability for Dyslexia initiatives across the organization.
Location :
This is a full-time hybrid (remote / onsite) position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland / Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.
Travel Expectations :
Less than 10% at the busiest times of the year outside of region travel and 25% within region travel
What You’ll Do – Accountabilities
Essential Duties :
- Act as a strategic thought partner, confidante, and sounding board for the Director of Special Programs Instruction and for leaders within the VP of Special Programs line of management, including Managing Directors / Directors, as well as other National and Regional Special Programs compliance and instructional roles in the organization.
- Coordinate and interact with other National Departments to strategize, develop products, create implementation processes and trainings to develop senior, regional and campus leaders as well as teachers across the organization in the area of dyslexia
- Design, develop and implement dyslexia systems of organization for repeated procedures, including setting responsibilities, coordinating functions among special programs department and providing accountability for adherence
- Coordinate, develop and communicate in collaboration with the Assessment team an appropriate plan to all stakeholders to ensure Kinder and First grade students Dyslexia Screening Assessment, implementation and reporting are in adherence to state guidelines
- Develop, communicate and implement a process for staff to become Certified Academic Language Practitioners
- Develop and design high quality training for School Psychologists and Ed Diags in developing most up to date evaluation practices for dyslexia
- Coordinate with SIS and Special Education Administrator to ensure accurate state reporting and coding for students with Dyslexia
- Direct, plan and develop training for mandatory dyslexia compliance and instructional training for any staff required in Texas
- Communication with a variety of audiences external and internal within variety of contexts, including but not limited to dyslexia progress toward goals, dyslexia priorities, resources and training requirements in the state of Texa
- Prepare and / or contribute to the preparation of reports, proposals, briefings, presentations, and responses on functional or organizational Special Programs dyslexia data / outcomes
- Coordinate and interact with the Business Office and Business Partners to prepare and plan the budget and spending of dyslexia funds

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $81,800 and $95,800, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity.This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
