Job Description

Purpose Statement: The Human Resource Generalist will support in the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including recruiting and hiring staff, administrating benefits and leave, and supporting the company safety program, and supporting company engagement initiatives. This position reports to the HR Business Partner.
Primary Responsibilities
- Fosters positive employee relations by addressing inquiries, providing guidance on HR policies, and ensuring a positive work environment.
- Supports compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; reviews and maintains internal policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Actively recruits and interviews for open positions; facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
- Champions HR Department’s alignment with company safety committee; administrates company Safety Orientation and ensures compliance and upkeep of internal records.
- Assists employees with benefit inquiries and processes new hire enrollments. Supports annual open enrollment activities.
- Assists in the design, development, and updating of HR-related documentation, policies, and procedures (Handbooks, forms, policies, etc.) and ensures leadership is informed on updates.
- Champions company training program ranging from new hire, safety, on the job, vocational, and other training types.
- Supports with bi-weekly payroll tasks.
- Supports in the planning, organization, and execution of employee engagement initiatives and events.
- Develops, administrates, and improves the effective use of the HRIS.
- Support in the collection, analyzation, and reporting of HR Department KPIs and metrics: Time to Hire (TTH), Turnover, ESG, absence rate, eNPS, etc.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- 3 years in an HR role.
- Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- SHRM-CP a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Basic knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
