PV INSTALLER
POSITION OVERVIEW
The PV Installer is responsible for the installation, assembly, and maintenance of photovoltaic (PV) systems for commercial and utility-scale projects. This role involves working with large-scale solar arrays, racking systems, and electrical components to ensure high-quality and efficient installations. PV Installers collaborate with electricians, engineers, and project managers to complete projects safely, on schedule, and in compliance with Ideal Energy’s standards and industry regulations.
EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assemble, install, and secure large-scale solar PV systems on ground mounts, carports, and commercial rooftops.
Follow system design plans, ensuring accurate placement, proper electrical connections, and secure mounting.
Adhere to all Ideal Energy safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.
Install racking systems, drive piles, and set up trackers for utility-scale solar projects.
Assist in the installation and connection of inverters, combiner boxes, and other electrical components.
Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and quality control checks to verify system functionality.
Operate power tools, heavy equipment, and machinery as required for installation.
Maintain organized job sites, ensuring compliance with project timelines and quality standards.
Communicate effectively with site supervisors, project managers, and other team members regarding project progress, challenges, or safety concerns.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Experience in commercial or utility-scale PV installation, construction, or a related field.
Ability to work with large-scale racking systems, trackers, and high-voltage equipment.
Proficiency with hand and power tools used in solar and electrical installations.
Comfortable working in various outdoor environments and at heights.
Understanding of electrical wiring, grounding, and mechanical systems.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work long hours, and perform physically demanding tasks.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
PREFERRED SKILLS
NABCEP certification or willingness to obtain.
Experience with high-voltage DC and AC electrical systems.
Knowledge of commercial and utility-scale solar permitting and installation regulations.
Familiarity with pile-driving equipment, trenching, and heavy machinery operation.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Experience operating lifts, scaffolding, and other construction equipment.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
Quality and accuracy of commercial and utility-scale PV installations, minimizing errors and rework.
Compliance with Ideal Energy safety standards and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Efficiency in completing projects within designated timelines.
Professionalism and effective collaboration with team members and site supervisors.
Ability to adapt to new technologies, installation techniques, and evolving industry standards.
Contribution to maintaining a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
