Senior Project Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the management of all aspects of Ideal Energy’s solar and storage projects, including project planning, budgeting, procurement, project controls and reporting, scheduling, risk management, and commissioning. The Sr. Project Manager provides leadership and technical guidance to other Project Managers, Construction Managers, Electrical Managers, and related staff. The Sr. Project Manager also assists in business development efforts and participates in cross-functional collaboration with engineering, financial, and executive teams.
EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide management and leadership for all projects throughout project lifecycle from pre-construction, construction, commissioning, and warranty follow-up.
- Direct the preconstruction process according to Company protocol including reviewing contract conditions to ensure compliance with all terms throughout project lifecycle.
- Lead and manage all relevant utility interconnection and construction permitting activities, ensuring that all required permits and permissions have been obtained prior to start of construction.
- Work with lead project team including construction managers, electrical managers and superintendents to plan, execute, and take responsibility for all project scopes including self-performed and subcontracted work.
- Oversee the development of subcontracted bid packages and procurement of subcontracted labor.
- Collaborate with procurement and warehousing teams to ensure that all project equipment is procured in a timely manner and ready for deployment at corresponding job milestones.
- Lead planning of project sequencing, crew-size, productivity goals, and monthly labor. budgets. Oversee the execution of work and track results. Adjust and refine forecasts to reflect actual production; communicate project status with relevant teams and Stakeholders.
- Oversee the development and implementation of site-specific safety measures and corresponding training for crew members. Ensure that all site activities adhere to established safety protocols at all times.
- Lead coordination and support of internal project accounting efforts including preparation of strategic billing schedules that maximize cash flow and reduce pay cycles. Coordinate with project accountant and financial controller to plan cash flows, diligently conduct billing and collection of receivables, and review overall project financial status.
- Ensure detailed project documentation is completed using project managements software including daily project logs, photos, RFIs, milestone inspections and significant project events, i.e., accidents, delays, change orders, etc.
- Identify when change orders (CO) are required and handle negotiation of CO with Client for timely resolution. Communicate CO with project accounting staff and Stakeholders.
- Maintain timely and accurate reporting to management and other key Stakeholders including status updates, schedule deviations, cost forecasting and estimated cost at completion.
- Cultivate an excellent partnership with Client. Organize and lead regular meetings with Client and key project partners and maintain timely communication about project status via email or other methodology as needed.
- Manage, train, and supervise direct reports and project team according to Company policies; provide mentorship to junior employees to foster development of professional capabilities.
- Oversee risk management; evaluate probability and severity of risk events throughout project lifecycle. Immediately report any risks and prepare mitigation plans with project team and key management teams.
- Mitigate any claims or conflict throughout project lifecycle in a timely manner.
- Maintain quality control to ensure integrity and excellence of projects throughout all stages. Develop and implement Site-Specific Quality Management Plans (SSQMP) and ensure adherence to plan. Lead the development of job-specific inspection templates corresponding to milestone completions.
- Lead the development and implementation of efficiency and quality measures across all areas of project management as a means of driving continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or similar.
- 7 years of construction management experience, 3 years mandatory experience in renewables; solar preferred.
- Thorough understanding of all aspects of project management including risk analysis, resource allocation, scheduling, cost control, procurement, estimating with proven track record of successful implementation.
- Working knowledge and fundamental understanding of contract law, compliance, and project accounting.
- Solution-seeking orientation with excellent skills in teamwork, leadership and communication with all organizational and management levels.
- Demonstrated management capabilities with leadership of multi-disciplined teams.
- Strong computer skills with MS Office suite, as well as other industry-standard tools, such as Procore.
- Experience in development and execution of complex project schedules
- Able to travel up to 50% of the time, including multi-day jobsite visits to remote and rural areas.
- Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Detail-oriented with self-starter capabilities
Preferred Skills
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Management is a plus.
- Project Management Institute PMP certification preferred.
- Construction field experience.

Salary Range
$120,000 - $150,000
