We believe that our team is our greatest asset, and we are seeking a Patient Surgical Counselor/Coordinator to play a key role in the patient experience by providing not only technical knowledge but also empathetic guidance during their surgical journey.
Position Overview
The Surgical Counselor is responsible for guiding patients through the surgical process by providing detailed information about available surgical options, answering patient inquiries, and ensuring the smooth coordination of the surgical journey. This role is critical in managing patient expectations, discussing financial aspects of non-covered services, and ensuring all pre-operative steps are completed to facilitate a successful surgery. We are seeking someone who can engage patients with empathy and clarity, helping them navigate their options in a compassionate, patient-first manner.
While technical knowledge is crucial, it is equally important to have the ability to engage in thoughtful, consultative conversations that empower patients to make informed decisions about their care. The role involves discussing surgical options, guiding patients through financial discussions (including non-covered services), and supporting them in choosing the best lens options for their needs. We are looking for someone who can build rapport and trust with patients, without being overly sales-oriented, but who can still guide patients toward the right choice.

- Complete Surgical Forms: Ensure all necessary consent forms and pre-operative paperwork are completed accurately.
- Coordinate Surgical Paperwork: Forward all completed surgical documentation to the appropriate facility or hospital.
- Pre-Admission Guidance: Inform patients about any required pre-admission testing (e.g., labs, EKGs) and provide clear instructions on what to expect on surgery day.
- Ensure Proper Facility Coordination: Schedule and board patients at the correct surgical facility, ensuring all necessary information is communicated clearly to the patient and the facility.
- Stay Current on Technology: Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in surgical technologies and treatments (e.g., premium IOLs) to provide the best patient education and care.
