Grocery Store Cashier

Job Summary

The Cashier must process all cash transactions accurately and efficiently in accordance with established policies and procedures. The successful candidate will play a fundamental role in achieving our customer satisfaction and revenue growth objectives.

Responsibilities

• Greeting customers, answering questions, making recommendations and providing exceptional customer service.
• Itemizes and totals purchases by recording prices, departments, taxable and nontaxable items, operating a cash register.
• Verifies credit acceptance by reviewing driver's license, operating credit card authorization system.
• Check the IDs of every customer purchasing tobacco or alcohol products.
• Balances cash drawer by counting cash at the beginning and end of work shift.
• Provides pricing information by answering questions.
• Maintains checkout operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Assisting in other duties, as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent qualification such as a GED
• Bilingual Spanish/English
• 1-2 years related experience
