This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of a growing, multi-million-dollar branch. This position is a pay-for-performance role and offers the ability to enter an established market with expansion possibilities. This role requires a strong leader to manage a fully functioning team serving Southeast Wisconsin and surrounding areas.

This position will carry out the duties to achieve company growth targets while maintaining safety, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and profits. Conduct business in accordance with PPC and Pieper Electric, Inc.’s mission and vision statements.

Personnel Development

  • Provide for the development of direct reports through development plans, monitoring and coaching performance, feedback and growth opportunities.Ensure that you are developing at least one succession candidate for your role.Access your own development needs and plan with your supervisor for incorporation into your development plan.Always be growing and improving both yourself and your team.
  • Provide on-the-job and classroom opportunities for skill and knowledge enhancement for all Branch employees.
  • Provide leadership to take charge of challenging projects, encourage teamwork, and supply the energy and enthusiasm required to achieve company goals and objectives.
  • In partnership with HR, develop workforce plans to hire new prospective employees.Perform appraisals for all managers and office employees reporting to you.
  • Participate in employee continuing education in house or through outside programs.
  • Counsel and, when needed, terminate unsatisfactory or unneeded employees.
  • Facilitate an annual employee survey in your area
  • Develop journey persons and lead persons.

Planning

  • Analyze and forecast factors that affect results to maximize efficiency.
  • Develop appropriate programs, strategies, and supervision to support those factors.
  • Complete one and three year plans to support the growth.

Monitoring

  • Measure of progress of objectives stated in Branch and Department one-year & three-year plans and budgets.
  • Monitor the progress of jobs and other major bid jobs.
  • Anticipate problems and take necessary corrective actions.
  • Ensure that our public image is maintained with all elements, including our vehicle fleet and all correspondence.
  • Make final decisions on Manpower assignments and carry out selling of new customers for niche market.
  • Provide leadership to take charge of challenging projects, encourage teamwork, and supply the energy and enthusiasm to achieve company goals and objectives.

Billing And Collections

  • Manage billings for positive company cash
  • Monitor accounts receivable and customer satisfaction. Take prompt action to resolve customer complaints and collect monies owed.

Continuous Improvement

  • Facilitate constant process improvement in production and efficiency in our field labor.Implement prefab and other productivity improvement tools to have increases in our labor production consistently.
  • Achieve minimum productivity requirements of 100%, while striving for expected productivity requirements of 110%.

Sales And Customer Satisfaction

  • Lead the sales effort for the branch and continually prospect for new customers.
  • Have the backlog to cover at least 50% of your plan.Provide budgets, estimate proposals, and relationship-building networks to achieve minimum yearly sales growth standards.
  • Develop annual sales plans inclusive of revenue budget targets
  • Achieve, at least, the budgeted net profit in the annual budget
  • Survey all customers quarterly.Achieve a minimum rating of 8.5 out of 10 with a goal of 9.2 and respond to all comments for process improvement.

Communication And Inter-Relationships

  • Complete projects, jobs, and reports effectively.
  • Provide information to the Company, its supervisor, and others to facilitate the objectives.
  • Interact with Company personnel, customers, and public in a manner that enhances achievement of Company goals.
  • Take actions required to promote teamwork and cooperation within the Branch and Company.

Requirements

This position requires a decisive leader with a passion for hands-on work in outdoor environments and a strong drive for construction project management work. Must have a desire to work in a team-based environment and contribute immediately.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management/Sciences, Engineering (electrical, mechanical, building science, etc.) or related discipline OR Journeyman background required.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, industry standards, and best practices.
  • 10 years of work experience in contracting, engineering, construction management, or representing the construction industry.
  • 10 years of experience leading teams.
  • Familiarity with relevant safety regulations, codes, and compliance requirements in the mechanical industry.
  • 10 years’ experience leading workplace safety efforts
  • Provide knowledge, skills and availability needed to perform the jobs (i.e. language, software applications, etc.)
  • Positive safety attitude and personal integrity – both are non-negotiable
  • Ability to work effectively with customers and service their needs.
  • Prior experience in the electrical or construction field preferred.
  • Ability to think conceptually and apply practical solutions.
  • Capabilities to self-start, display solid work ethic, and aspire to move ahead.
  • Ability to act decisively and aggressively through positive communication.
  • Ability to be trusted by customers and employees, i.e., the ability to serve.
  • Financial skills and experience in making economically sound decisions.
  • Skill to act decisively while exercising some attention to detail
