Position Overview
The primary responsibility is to operate a front-end wheel loader in a safe manner, while loading aggregate bins for a concrete plant, loading trucks, maintaining aggregate stockpiles, maintaining haul roads and the yard area.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Operates a straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor-type vehicle equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage or processing areas.
- Perform assignments outlined by supervisors and standard procedures are followed in the performance of duties; work is inspected periodically for safety and economy in operation.
- Perform pre-shift inspections on mobile equipment, report defects or problems.
- Maintain an effective system of communications with supervisors, drivers, crew, laborers, operators, and customers serviced.
- Transfers material from the pit face to a feeder by operating a wheeled loader.
- Performs emergency and routine repairs and maintenance on plant equipment and structures at the site locations.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance on mobile equipment, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning. Conducts routine inspections of plant and mobile equipment. Grease and fuel mobile equipment.
- Assists in various projects at the plant locations to make sure production is maintained. During equipment breakdowns, assist others in repairs and clean up.
- Responsible for maintaining the appearance of the plant and yard area by using general housekeeping practices.
- Performs the day-to-day activities of a plant (Ready Mix), duties could include tasks associated with maintaining the stationary equipment of various plants.
- Maintain equipment in proper working order.
- Maintain and review maintenance logs for repairs.
- Safely operate loader and perform mechanical and general labor duties.
- Perform all duties in a safe manner and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Load bins to ensure appropriate stock levels and load haul trucks while maintaining safe area for stock piling and customer load out.
- Maintain berms in appropriate areas.
- Use safe practices in all activities.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred, or demonstrable equivalent.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment, construction or front-end loader experience is preferable.
- Knowledge/Skill Requirements

- Must be proficient at reading, understanding, and speaking the English language.
- Ability to read, write, and accurately perform basic mathematical functions, including adding, subtracting, multiplication and division.

Work Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years in age or older.
- Must pass post-offer employment drug testing, medical exams, background check, mvr, and physical abilities testing.

- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.

- Must possess unrestricted mobility to twist, turn, bend, and lean in all directions, lookup, down and side to side without hesitation or discomfort.
- Must possess the strength, mobility, agility, and balance to ascend access ladders and steps, and to maneuver on equipment and vehicles without assistance.
- Must repetitively climb and dismount from a high vehicle cab 50-times a day.
- Must repetitively lift up to 60-pounds.
- Must possess sufficient strength to continuously operate equipment controls and tools weighing up to 20-pounds for uninterrupted periods of up to 4-hours.
- Skeletal, joint and muscle system must withstand continuous impact from driving activities.
