AutoLabel / AutoPack Setup Operator I
I. Scope:
The AutoLabel / AutoPack Setup Operator is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating auto box and other automated packaging machines, as well as packaging completed products.
II. Responsibility and Authority:
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Ensure compliance with all required industry standards and government requirements as outlined in the Ideal-Tridon Quality Manual, Quality Management System, process documentation, and all Company Human Resources, Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines to meet customer requirements.
Possess the authority and responsibility to shut down machine operations if quality, safety, or environmental issues arise. Notify the supervisor, lead, or other appropriate manager when this occurs.
When operating a forklift, have the authority to remove the equipment from service following EHS-20-0042. Notify the Maintenance Department as needed.
Maintain and protect all company, supplier, and customer proprietary and confidential information.
III. Essential Functions:
Machine Operations:
Set up, adjust, and operate automatic packaging, bar code, and auto-labeling equipment according to the production schedule and specified limits to ensure optimal equipment performance and product quality.
Operate Automated Packaging Equipment, including AutoPack machines, AutoLabel machines, Bivans 54L carton erector, box closers, label applicators, conveyors, and tape machines.
Use totes of clamps, sub-packs, cartons, feeder bowls, hand tools, and an assortment of wrenches for operational needs.
General Duties:
Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Paperwork and Documentation:
Read and understand Work Orders, Travel Cards, Pack Ops Sheets, Pallet Stacking Sheets, Work Instructions, and Labor Tickets.
Utilize the Packaging Document Center menu.
Understand the process for containing products and completing RID.
Use scan guns and complete production and other required records.
Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE):
Complete HSE training listed in the position’s Training Instruction Checklist.
Identify and remove slip, trip, and fall hazards.
Follow housekeeping and equipment cleaning procedures.
Understand and adhere to PPE requirements, light curtain protocols, and machine guarding.
Equipment Operation:
Analyze equipment malfunctions, perform minor maintenance repairs, and report issues to supervisors.
Load and unload sub-packs and clamps as needed.
Set up, adjust, and operate automatic label applicators, ensuring proper alignment.
Load full sub-packs into master cartons and utilize automatic tape machines for transport to the warehouse.
Empty scrap and mixed parts into proper receptacles.
Special Equipment:
Operate pallet jacks and reach truck forklifts as required.
Quality Compliance:
Adhere to Quality Management System and Environmental Management System requirements.
Complete the Training Instruction Checklist for the role satisfactorily.
Other Duties:
Perform additional duties as necessary.
IV. Position Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent education and experience.
Minimum of one year of related machine setup and operation experience within Ideal-Tridon, or one to two years of related external experience.
Reach truck forklift experience may be required.
V. Physical Requirements:
Safely lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
Ability to climb a 12-foot ladder and open tote doors.
Perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, grasping, reaching, stooping, trunk turning, standing, and walking for extended periods.
Maintain adequate vision for reading and understanding written instructions.
Maintain regular attendance and meet overtime requirements.
Understand verbal and written instructions in English.
