Job Summary:
The Packaging Setup Operator will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating packaging machinery to ensure the efficient and safe packaging of products.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assure compliance to all required industry standards and government requirements as stated in the Ideal-Tridon Quality Manual, Quality Management System, process documentation, and all Company Human Resources, Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Responsibility and authority to shut down machine operation when quality, safety, or environmental issues arise. The operator will notify the supervisor, lead, or other appropriate manager.
- When operating a forklift, has the responsibility and authority to remove the equipment from service following EHS-20-0042. Notification will be made to the Maintenance Department.
- Maintains and protects all company, supplier, and customer proprietary and confidential information.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Sets up, adjusts and maintains clamp assembly, packaging, and labeling equipment to meet production and customer quality requirements.
- Monitors machine operations to ensure proper functioning and identify any issues or malfunctions.
- Troubleshoots equipment problems and makes necessary adjustments or repairs to minimize downtime.
- Loads packaging materials, such as film, boxes, or labels, into machines and replenishes supplies as needed.
- Inspects packaged products for quality and adherence to specifications, including proper labeling and sealing.
- Records production data, including output quantities, downtime, and maintenance activities, in production logs or databases.
- Collaborates with production team members to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Basic math skills for measuring and calculating packaging requirements.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures for operating machinery.
- Good communication skills to convey information effectively to team members.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent education and experience required.
- Minimum of one to two years of related set-up and machine operation experience required.
- Experience using industrial tools: mechanic's hand tools, precision drill, precision instruments, power sander, power grinder, power forklift, safety glasses, and lubricants required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and/or sitting and reaching with hands and arms.
- May occasionally climb stairs, drive vehicles, and operate equipment.
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds at a time.
