Ideal Tridon Group is seeking an OEM Key Account Manager with extensive experience working with General Motors and its Tier 1 suppliers. In this role, you will manage and expand key OEM accounts in the automotive, heavy-duty, and industrial markets, while developing business opportunities for engineered clamp solutions. The ideal candidate will be based in Detroit, MI, or Ohio to support strategic customer engagement and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Account & Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary customer contact for General Motors and Tier 1 suppliers, ensuring strong, long-term relationships.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to grow sales and market share.
- Identify new business opportunities within General Motors and key Tier 1 accounts.
Sales & Business Development:
- Drive revenue growth by securing new programs and contracts.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop custom-engineered clamping solutions for customer applications.
- Work with engineering, procurement, and program management teams to support product development and commercialization.
Technical Support & Program Management:
- Understand customer engineering requirements and work closely with internal engineering teams to develop solutions.
- Lead the quoting and cost estimation process for stamped and roll-formed parts.
- Manage multiple programs simultaneously, ensuring timelines and objectives are met.
Forecasting & Reporting:
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and market intelligence to senior leadership.
- Maintain customer databases and project tracking systems.
- Report on key account performance, revenue growth, and market trends.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 6 years in automotive OEM sales, specifically with General Motors and its Tier 1 suppliers.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of metal forming, stamping, and roll-forming manufacturing processes.
- Experience with quoting, pricing strategies, and program management.
- Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings, with an understanding of tolerances and material specifications.
- Software Proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM tools.
- Soft Skills: Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills; highly motivated, results-driven, and capable of working independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in automotive-engineered component sales (e.g., clamps, fasteners, brackets, or similar products).
- Technical background in mechanical engineering, manufacturing processes, or product development.
- Residing in or near Detroit, MI, or Ohio to effectively support key accounts.
