To expand our North American team, we are seeking a talented and experienced Geotechnical Engineer with expertise in the commercial solar ground mount industry for our Scottsdale, AZ location (remote available).

 

This position will play a pivotal role in the design and analysis of solar ground mount foundations, ensuring their structural integrity and compliance with industry standards. The Geotechnical Engineer will work closely with the Sr. Application Engineer and the international engineering team, as well as provide technical support to the Sales team. Responsibilities

  • Conduct direct-ramming foundation calculations and perform concrete and rebar analysis for drilled foundations, particularly when dealing with bedrock conditions.
  • Develop pile refusal plans and collaborate with the design team to implement effective foundation solutions.
  • Provide expertise in structural steel design for pole foundations in accordance with the International Building Code (IBC).
  • Utilize software such as LPILE to perform in-depth geotechnical analyses and interpret results to inform design decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure geotechnical considerations are integrated into overall project planning and execution and develop methods to budgetarily quote projects with an engineering mindset if soils reports/pile tests are not available.
  • Generate accurate and comprehensive engineering reports, including calculations, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to address geotechnical concerns and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Needed support for testing as it relates to foundation design.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in the commercial solar ground mount industry, with a focus on geotechnical engineering.
  • Expertise in direct embedment ramming foundation calculations, concrete and rebar analysis for drilled foundations, and pile refusal plans.
  • Ability to travel to project sites during pile testing.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, preferably with the ability to stamp drawings.
  • Proficiency in structural steel design for pole foundations in accordance with the IBC.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical software, including LPILE, as well as Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity or background in structural engineering preferred, but not required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive and results-oriented mindset, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work.
