Summary
Pipeline inspection / cleaning equipment manufacturer and rehab equipment distributor with a national distribution channel needs a Bench Service Technician to work with service and operations team located in Randolph, NJ. Candidate needs to have technical and hands on capabilities related to service and technical skills including electrical assembly, wiring, and testing of pipeline inspection / cleaning equipment and robotic lining and reinstatement equipment. Must be able to work synergistically with others in Service, Operations and Sales / Customer Service to ensure the proper communication is operating at its best levels to maintain high customer satisfaction. Bench Service Technician will need to develop complete knowledge of several inspection products and field applications. Successful candidate will have experience following electrical and mechanical drawings, diagnosing / troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues and have demonstratable skills with soldering and using hand tools.
Duties and Responsibilities
Check-in, evaluate and troubleshoot incoming equipment
Diagnose repair / service issues with equipment to determine most efficient / effective course of action
Document recommendations and explain repairs required to service manager for estimating
Detailed service log of repair parts and service for invoicing and inventory management
Apply knowledge and skills to perform technical repairs according to schedule and manufacturers recommendations and requirements
Finalize all repair documentation and order information to be provided to service manager for file as related to specific serial numbers and customer database
Maintain workspace in a safe, clean, and orderly manner
Limited travel to customer locations for repairs and to manufacturer training as needed
Plan, organize and execute specific service and support initiatives as required
Skills
Complete technical understanding of the video inspection and robotic operations
Skills related to reading, writing and math aptitude related to service techniques required to perform duties
Ability to communicate clearly by oral and written skills related to technical material
Successfully communicate training and service needs to customers both in NJ for training and remote locations as needed
Learn and apply practical field knowledge to the field sales team
Assist the customers service and sales group with trainings and development to provide better service and support to customers in a professional environment
Planning and organizing abilities to manage time according to repair and delivery schedules
Physically able to stand for up to 8 hours per day with bending and kneeling frequently and to be able to occasionally lift and maneuver heavy equipment
Extensive experience in reading technical drawings, soldering and use of diagnostic and hand tools
