Summary
The Electrical Panel Design Engineer creates Electrical wiring diagrams, provides ongoing support of FMD electrical wiring diagrams and specifications. Coordinates with sales, engineering, purchasing, production all the way through to customer service as required. The designed work product must conform to the required electrical codes, international standards, FMD product certification listings and customer specifications. Job Duties
Design, develop, modify, and test electrical panels and system wiring for new and existing products
Interpret project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, regulatory compliance, and customer specifications
Define bills of material and equipment specifications for external suppliers
Oversee project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery of projects, expected quality, and allotted budget.
Ability to generate wiring diagrams, wire and panel schedules, layouts, schematics, P&IDs, product specifications, control narratives, test procedures, and work instructions.
Participate in research and development, design reviews, failure mode analysis, validation testing, etc.
Provide technical support to customers and other departments within the organization.
Oversee hardware / software development and validation leveraging outside service firms as required.
Typical projects will include AC and DC motor starters, sensors, instrumentation, flow computers, and occasional basic PLC programming.
Analytical problem-solving skills with a strong understanding of electromechanical principles and products (motors, relays, circuit breakers, switches, etc.)
Assist the Production Department as required to interpret design intent, perform inspections or test panels and assemblies.
Proficiency with either SolidWorks Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical software.
Practical knowledge of hazardous area electrical codes NFPA / NEC, CSA, IEC and international standards IEC as it pertains to ATEx and IECEx product approval.

Ability to work in a manufacturing and office setting
Occasional travel required to customer sites (1-3 domestic trips / year)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs when needed
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Technical Field, or equivalent successful experience in a similar industry role.
Experience of 3-5 years in industrial electrical design.
Ability to specify appropriate component parts for explosive environment.
Advanced software skills (Ex : CAD, Microsoft Office, MRP)
Ability to interpret, modify and create drawings including Electrical Schematics, P&ID
Strong communication and organizational skills

Experience in the Oil and Gas Industry.
Hazardous area classifications NEC, CSA, ATEX & IECEX as well as familiarity with electrical standards a plus.
Customer Service and Sales Support Experience
Project management experience
Advanced SolidWorks experience (CSWP)
Understanding R&D, Design and manufacturing processes.
Understanding of applicable engineering specifications, codes and standards.
Experience with simple PCB’s, controllers, and associated software.
