As a  Part-time Histology Laboratory Technologist with IDEXX BioAnalytics, you will be a key contributor at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. You will perform laboratory testing that helps the scientific community to improve animal and human health. We partner with Pharma, BioTech, and Academia (the scientific community) to improve animal and human health.

In this Role:  

• You will be using microtomes, processors, an embedding center, an automatic slide Stainer, cover slipper, and special stains to process tissue samples for pathologists. 
• You will follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and maintain a safe working environment.
  
  

 

You Can Expect To Specialize  in The Following Areas

• Grossing, embedding, microtomy, staining and special staining techniques
• Accurate and timely delivery of casework (and collateral materials) to on-site and off-site pathologists
• Performing case approvals and billing of cases
• Maintaining and troubleshooting histology instruments and systems
• Performing variety of customer service activities for internal and external customers, providing information, resolving issues and ensuring customer satisfaction
  
  

What You Will Need to Succeed:  

• You have 2 years’ experience working in a histology laboratory. Experience with grossing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and special staining techniques required.
• You have a positive attitude and love to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues 
• You are looking forward to working as part of a team 
• You concentrate on the details and can work reliably and precisely 
• You have a great sense of team spirit and responsibility 
• You possess a 4-year degree in a Science-related field
• It is not required to work in our lab, but if you were a Histotechnician (HT) (ASCP) or a Histotechnologist (HTL) (ASCP), this experience and education would be a plus; or if you are eligible to sit for certification exam within one year.
• Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab – standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability – close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 
• This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

• Hourly rates targeting $30/hour, depending on experience

Schedule: 

• Looking for assistance 8 hours/day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, ideally between 8:00am-5:00pm CST.
• The shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs.
• Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
