Facilities Maintenance Position, The facilities maintenance position entails performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks to maintain and repair the facility and surrounding grounds including building systems and equipment within the facility, which entails electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry work, routine inspections, preventative maintenance, grounds maintenance and responding to repair requests, ensuring the building and grounds operate smoothly and safely. This position often requires knowledge in multiple trades and the ability to work independently or with outside contractors depending on the task complexity. This position is located in our Livonia, MI facility.
Key responsibilities may include:
Preventative Maintenance:
- Regularly inspecting and servicing building systems like HVAC units, plumbing fixtures, electrical equipment, lighting, etc.
Repair Work:
- Completing repairs on various building components including plumbing, electrical issues, lighting fixtures, doors, drywall repairs, etc.
General Maintenance:
- Performing tasks like painting, patching, cleaning common areas, and maintaining grounds.
Contractor Oversight:
- Coordinating with external contractors as necessary for larger maintenance projects, ensuring work is completed to specifications and within budget.
Record Keeping:
- Maintaining detailed logs of maintenance activities, including dates, repairs performed, associated parts and costs.
Safety Compliance:
- Adhering to safety protocols and reporting any hazardous conditions within the facility to management.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC maintenance and repair.
Problem Solving:
- Ability to diagnose issues and identify solutions to maintenance and repair problems.
Hand Tools Proficiency:
- Familiarity with a range of hand tools and power equipment necessary to maintain both the building and surrounding grounds.
Physical Ability:
- Capability to perform tasks requiring lifting, climbing, bending as necessary to complete required tasks.
Communication Skills:
- Effective communication with management, co-workers, and contractors to address maintenance needs.
Compensation, Benefits, and Structure of the Facility Maintenance Position
Compensation for this position is negotiable and will depend upon experience. The position is full-time with hours Monday – Friday. Medical and dental benefits are available after 90 days of employment. The compensation package also includes benefits such as 401k plan with matching employer contributions as well as company-paid life and disability insurance.
