Summary :
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality patient care by performing provider-ordered nuclear medicine procedures and tasks according to protocol. This role involves collaborating with Radiologists and Medical Providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes while adhering to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform accurate nuclear medicine scans according to protocol and consult with Radiologists as necessary.
- Explain procedures compassionately to patients, addressing their questions to ensure understanding and satisfaction.
- Operate nuclear medicine equipment, administer radiopharmaceuticals safely, and ensure all safety protocols are followed.
- Obtain accurate medical histories, complete safety documentation and consents, and verify orders for medical necessity.
- Adhere to all radiation safety and privacy regulations, completing required education and competencies annually.
- Maintain high-quality imaging skills and ensure accurate billing for procedures and supplies.
- Coordinate patient transportation and support personnel to avoid delays in care.
- Report equipment issues promptly to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
