Position Overview for the Patient Access Representative :
- Patient Registration & Financial Clearance : Greet patients and family members, collect and verify demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information, and register patients for service delivery using the patient registration / accounting systems. Obtain and process necessary signatures, physician orders, and registration documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Insurance & Payment Processing : Conduct insurance eligibility and benefit verification, provide financial education, calculate patient liabilities, and actively collect payments including co-pays, deductibles, and deposits at the time of service. Process payments for prior services when needed, and refer complex cases to financial counseling.
- Customer Service & Patient Experience : Serve as the primary face-to-face point of contact for patients, ensuring an exceptional patient experience by providing guidance, responding to inquiries, and demonstrating knowledge of Sutter Health system services and policies. Offer directional support and maintain compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Administrative Duties & Process Improvement : Support various administrative tasks, including cashiering, bed management, and communication operations, while contributing ideas for continuous improvement of patient access processes. Maintain assigned work queue and ensure timely completion of tasks.
