About us: IE POWER is primarily an electrical contractor but we do all phases of industrial and commercial construction related to electrical and mechanical construction including concrete, fabricating, welding, maintenance, upgrades, rebuild and repair. We have a very diversified crew that can facilitate all customer needs.
Location: Must be able to work and travel within 75 miles of the Pittsburgh area. Our shops are located in Freeport and Cowansville, PA. The majority of our work is currently in Western PA and WV.
Job Summary: The Project Estimator plays a pivotal role in the construction commercial and industrial sector, responsible for sales, customer development, going to job walks, estimating costs, and assisting in managing projects. This multifaceted role involves a combination of technical expertise, sales, and communication skills, and financial acumen to deliver project estimates and take offs on time and within budget. The Estimator will work with Project Managers, and electrical, fabrication, and civil crews to maximize efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation:
- Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates and take offs for mechanical electrical projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and technical drawings to assess project requirements.
Budget Management:
- Create and maintain project budgets, monitoring expenses throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose value engineering solutions without compromising project quality.
- Track and report project financial performance against established budgets.
Project Planning:
- Collaborate with customers to develop detailed project plans and timelines.
- Ensure that project goals, milestones, and deliverables are clearly defined and communicated to all stakeholders.
- Identify potential risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
Procurement and Vendor Management:
- Helps to source and negotiate contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Assists in the procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain relationships with key vendors and suppliers.
Quality Control:
- Implement quality control processes to ensure that all work adheres to industry standards and project specifications.
Project Execution:
- Assist Project Managers in day-to-day project activities, resolving project-related issues and conflicts as they arise, and assist with take-offs and change orders.
- Work with Project Managers to ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and project reports.
- Maintain confidentiality of means, methods and financials.
Sales and Client Communication:
- Develop new customers and MSA's, and maintain existing customer relationships and MSA agreements.
- Identify bids through bidding software and through customer requests (RFQ's), and perform estimating and paperwork submittals in a timely fashion to meet deadlines.
- Act as initial and ongoing point of contact for customers, addressing their concerns and providing regular project bid updates.
- Foster positive customer relationships and seek opportunities for additional projects or referrals.
Safety Compliance:
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and standards on project sites to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance project efficiency and quality.
- Seek opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (at least 2 years) in estimating/ bidding and sales in the construction industry. Must know both public and private construction bidding process.
- Experience in energy, heavy industrial, piping, commercial, and mechanical services is a must.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, codes, and standards.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
