The overall purpose of this position is to support the timely and effective work of the IEEE Corporate Governance team and its Senior Director. Specifically, this individual will provide the coordination, support and effective execution of assigned tasks while managing projects for Corporate Governance. Corporate Governance is a highly visible department that supports the IEEE Board of Directors, various Committees of volunteer leaders, and their related processes. The team supports the operations related to Board committees and ad hoc committees' administration and meetings. The individual must be able to act independently, possess good judgement, and discern and maintain a strict level of confidentiality. This is a complex, detail-oriented, sensitive, collaborative, and fast-paced support function that requires strong project management skills.
This role reports to the Sr. Director, Corporate Governance and will have indirect oversight from other Corporate Governance managers based on project assignments. This individual has the authority to sign for up to $10,000 in budgeted funds without supervisory approval, including meeting planning and related costs, volunteer travel costs, and expenditures related to the IEEE Board of Directors and Committees.
As a member of the Corporate staff, this individual must be a valued participant and work comfortably with the highest management levels, both within and outside of IEEE.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports and coordinates projects and meetings as assigned from each of Corporate Governance’s functional areas : Governance Committee; Board of Directors; Assembly; Nominations & Appointments; Ethics and Member Conduct; and Elections; track deadlines and assist with follow up
- Develop and edit agendas, minutes, reports, presentations, correspondence, and other documents.
- Assist coordinate Board, Committee, and Working Group surveys.
- Reconcile and approve expense reports
- Conduct research on governing documents, best practices, industry standards, benchmarking, operations, and governance
- Manage other activities and projects as assigned to accomplish the Sr. Director and organization’s goals
- Coordinate staff meetings and development activities; supports Senior Director in preparation for staff and other meetings
