Summary Of Position
A member of the Marketing Department, the Senior Marketing Specialist’s primary role is to support the day-to-day marketing and content management for our Advancement & Alumni Engagement Department. A versatile communicator, this person will report to the Director of Brand Marketing to execute marketing and communications plans, launch alumni- and fundraising-related marketing campaigns, use social media to engage alumni and donors, and maintain digital and print content for IES Abroad alumni.

Essential Job Responsibilities & Duties
Marketing and Communications
- Create and maintain marketing and communication plans specific to Advancement & Alumni Engagement, running in tandem with IES Global themes and campaigns
- Collaborate with Advancement & Alumni Engagement team to enhance digital presence for annual appeals and giving days
- Field and support request tickets from Advancement & Alumni team submitted through our internal design, news, and video request forms
- Write and send alumni and donor email-marketing communications
- Manage relationships with outside partners and vendors such as printers, promotional product vendors, advertising partners, and more
- Collaborate with Associate Director of Advancement & Alumni Engagement in the creation and execution of virtual/hybrid events that engage current and prospective donors and alumni, including writing web copy, maintaining event page(s), invitation and registration materials, pre/post-event summaries, and database management
- Draft, edit, and prep annual print and digital production of The Exchange: Alumni Magazine
- Create and manage editorial content calendar for all alumni-related content
- Collaborate with College Relations & Advising on the IES Abroad Ambassador Program focusing on ideating, prompting, and creating content for social media, email, and web
- Draft and publish online content such as news stories, alumni profiles, career-building and networking content, and event pages
- Collaborate with Marketing and other departments on external campaigns and content that may be relevant to alumni audience, including repurposing our partner newsletter What’s New for an alumni audience
- Manage posts and graphics for alumni-related social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn group) with guidance from the Multimedia Marketing Manager in coordination with Marketing Department best practices
- Respond to inquiries and comments posted on alumni-facing social media accounts
- Attend weekly Marketing Department meeting and other team-wide events, as well as weekly joint Marketing-Advancement & Alumni Engagement meeting
- Record all significant alumni interactions and biographical updates in the database
- Attend IES Abroad-sponsored events to support the Alumni Engagement program; travel may be required
- Ensure, monitor, and maintain brand consistency of materials
- Commit to and demonstrate values and promotion of diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.
- 5 years of experience in communications, as it relates to advancement/alumni relations, or related job experience
- Strong interest in content creation and marketing
- Technical literacy in Raisers Edge and NXT, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Canva; and Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, and Salesforce a plus
- Ability to function independently and be self-motivated, but work well with a team
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent judgment and intercultural competence
- Ability to produce professional, compelling communications tailored to an audience
- Have an appreciation for education and study abroad
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information and material in a discretionary manner
- Ability to demonstrate values and promotion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism required.
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or related field or relevant work experience
