IES Commercial, Inc. – Commercial & Industrial Division, Houston, Texas, seeking full-time Accounting & Finance Analyst with accounting experience at a Big 4 firm or exposure to Big 4 audit clients to manage a wide range of daily financial and accounting tasks for a publicly traded construction industry business with operations across the country. The role will also provide assistance with researching and analyzing financial information to help management make well informed decisions in predicting future results and drive process and policy improvements
Job Summary
- Assist with day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger entries, and internal/external audits
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial-close processes
- Prepare and maintain financial statements and reports in compliance with company policies
- Perform bank reconciliations and assist with cash management activities
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, monitoring project costs, tracking expenses, and provide financial support for ongoing electrical construction projects
- Provide creative alternatives/recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance
- Collaborate with Division Management/other departments to provide financial insights and support
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA a plus.
- 1 to 2 years' accounting experience at a Big 4 firm or exposure to Big 4 audit clients (internships and co-op experience included); public company experience a plus.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficient in MS Excel.
- Strong organizational, attention-to-detail, and communications skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
- Experience in construction or electrical industries a plus.
- Understanding of project accounting and cost tracking a plus.
- Accounting software experience (MS Dynamics, Sage, or similar) a plus.
- Successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) background check and MVR check when responsibilities require operating motor vehicles.
