What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Pre-Construction Services position at IES Communications?
Job Summary:
The Director of Pre-Construction will oversee and manage the Pre-Construction function. The Director will use strategic methods to improve the Pre-Construction department and contribute to the success of the company.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Vice President of Pre-Construction to develop and implement best business practices.
- Develop and supervise strategies, policies and operating plans of Pre-Construction organization.
- Assess forecast estimating needs and adjust headcount as necessary while maintaining an acceptable volume output.
- Assess, modify, and ensure deliverables are meeting company standards.
- Assist leads in best business decisions and overflow needs.
- Assess, develop, and ensure estimating practices have a Quality Assurance process that is adhered to.
- Assist in business development, customer meetings and proposal generation.
- Participating in and/or facilitating the bid process.
- Act as the company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

- Must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
- Must have proven high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
- Must able to travel within branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
- Must possess the ability to learn Company and customer project management systems.
- Must be able to successfully secure and maintain a Company sponsored American Express Card.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
- Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- RCDD certification preferred.
- Must have experience in customer interface, such as liaison between the customer and the Company.
- Must possess a minimum of ten (10) years supervisory or managerial experience.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical or construction field.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project).
- Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
- Must be able to supervise multiple Engineers.
- Must have demonstrated verifiable ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, develop detailed associated tasks and manage these to final completion and customer turnover.
