Job Summary
The Bus Fabrication Technician is responsible for assembling, cutting, bending, and preparing bus bars and other metal components used in electrical power and control systems. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to read blueprints and schematics to ensure components meet engineering specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in metal fabrication, including operating cutting, punching, and bending equipment, as well as a strong understanding of quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to fabricate bus bars and other components.
- Operate fabrication equipment, including saws, presses, drills, and CNC machines.
- Measure, cut, bend, and punch copper and aluminum bus bars according to specifications.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to design requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of fabrication equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and machine guarding.
- Maintain accurate production records and document quality inspections.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, quality control, and other team members to meet production deadlines.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in metal fabrication, bus bar manufacturing, or a related field.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and detailed work instructions.
- Proficiency in using fabrication tools, including saws, punches, press brakes, and measuring instruments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes (certification preferred, onsite training available).
- Basic understanding of electrical conductivity and insulation materials is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
