Crane Service Manager
Sign-on Bonus $2,500
Reports to: General Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary:
Responsible for leading the mobile crane service team consisting of project managers, crane operators, truck drivers/riggers, the division coordinator and other support personnel. Responsible for the profitable growth of the crane operations within Greiner Industries. This includes customer interfacing, estimating/ proposals, coordinating with the project management team, supervision of critical tasks at the project level, people development, and overall profitability of the Crane organization.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and develops/trains new staff.
- Working knowledge of profit/loss statement
- Oversees the labor management of the department to ensure the correct resources are available for our projects.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Actively review overall project backlog from a cost, schedule, manhour, and invoicing perspective with the project management team.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with both Greiner and customer safety programs.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements on projects.
- Working with leadership prepare an annual budget of revenue and expenditure.
- Provide both estimating, job walk through and project management services to the customer.
- Working with the responsible project manager to review technical specifications, and project schedules during the estimating and execution phases of a project.
- Oversee and ensure process compliance with project turnover packages that details the scope of work, material, project hours, schedule, subcontractors, and customer expectations.
- Coordinate with the customer to schedule the project, ensuring the customer schedule and expectations are met.
- Ability to review and develop a standard preventative maintenance program for the fleet of cranes and trucks.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships through site visits, safety audits, and onsite meetings.
- Able to critically evaluate work completion and define improvements in operation as needed
- Actively review monthly billing and cost on a per job basis.
- Establish and conduct standard project reviews within the Crane division.
- Adhere to Federal, State and Local Laws.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software
- Solid time management skills, the ability to multi-task, and organizational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proven team building skillset.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Working knowledge of crane operations, maintenance, and regulations.
- Working knowledge of proper rigging techniques, certifications and tooling
- Valid Driver’s license
- Proficient in CAD and PDF software.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5-10 years of experience in taxi crane service management
- Proficient in blueprint reading with the ability to teach others.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds without assistance.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Will be required to travel to job sites and meet the customer to review job progress.
- Will work in outdoor and indoor environments.
