Job Summary:
IES Infrastructure is seeking a skilled Field Commissioning Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for the testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical and telecommunications infrastructure to ensure systems operate according to project specifications and industry standards. The technician will work closely with project teams, engineers, and clients to ensure successful system integration and functionality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation of electrical and telecommunications systems, including power distribution, fiber optics, networking, and control systems.
- Conduct system and equipment testing to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to resolve technical issues and optimize system performance.
- Document test results, deficiencies, and corrective actions for review and final approval.
- Assist with system installations and modifications as necessary.
- Train end-users and provide technical support as required.
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe work environment at all times.
- Travel to job sites as required for field commissioning activities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in field commissioning, electrical testing, or telecommunications infrastructure.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of electrical power systems, fiber optics, networking, and control systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience with test equipment such as multimeters, OTDRs, and power analyzers.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEEE, ANSI, BICSI).
- Certifications: Industry certifications (e.g., BICSI, OSHA 30, NETA, or equivalent) are a plus.
- Other Requirements:
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel and work in various field conditions.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
